Redefining north.

But February made me shiver.

But February made me shiver.

Today, I discovered the NMU archives, which have Passages North issues going back to the 1970s, when it was published by the Bay Area Writers’ Guild of the William Bonafis Fine Arts Center in Escanaba, Michigan. Now, back at home, I have newsprint on my fingers, which is something I haven’t had to deal with in years. I think I just smudged up the cats. The issues had mailing labels to John Voelker (author of Anatomy of a Murder), who must have donated them at some point. All this makes me very happy.

Look for us to feature “Classic Content” on the website soon. I’ll start with just this: a photo of Charles Baxter and Alan Howard (who, full disclosure, is my dad) at a conference at Bay de Noc Community College in 1985.
